Roblox Error Codes
What each error code means and how to fix it, sourced from Roblox's own support articles.
Same account launched from different devices
You're signed into the same Roblox account and trying to join the same experience from more than one device at once.
Roblox only allows one active session per account in a given experience at a time. Launching from a second device while the first is still connected triggers this.
How to fix it
- -Close Roblox on any other device before launching it again.
- -Fully sign out on one device if you're not sure it's still connected.
- -Reinstall the Roblox app if the error persists after closing other sessions - a stale session can sometimes get stuck open.
Connection timed out
Your device couldn't establish a connection to Roblox's servers before the request timed out.
Almost always a local network issue - low bandwidth, an unstable connection, or something on your network blocking the request.
How to fix it
- -Check your internet connection and try a wired connection if you're on Wi-Fi.
- -Restart your router.
- -Temporarily disable VPN or proxy software, which can add latency that triggers timeouts.
Banned from an experience
You've been banned from a specific game by that game's creator for violating Roblox's Community Standards within their experience.
This is issued by the experience's creator, not by Roblox itself - it only affects that one game, not your account platform-wide.
How to fix it
- -You can still access every other experience and platform feature normally.
- -Contact the experience creator directly (in-game chat, their community wall, or social links on their profile) if you want to appeal.
- -Roblox Support can't lift or explain bans issued by individual creators, and creators can't issue Robux refunds for this.
Kicked due to unexpected client behavior
Roblox detected something abnormal about your connection or client and disconnected you as a precaution.
Usually a network hiccup between your device and Roblox's servers, but third-party software (particularly antivirus tools that intercept or modify network traffic) can also trigger it.
How to fix it
- -Check whether antivirus or firewall software is set to monitor or block Roblox, and allow it through if so.
- -Restart your router and try again.
- -Reinstall the Roblox app if this keeps happening on a specific device.
Lost connection to Team Create
Your Roblox Studio session got disconnected from a collaborative Team Create session.
The editing session on your device fell out of sync with the shared Team Create session, usually from a dropped connection.
How to fix it
- -Reconnect to the Team Create session from Studio.
- -Check your internet connection stability if this happens repeatedly.
- -Save local changes before reconnecting, in case sync doesn't resume cleanly.
Lost connection to the game server
Your client and the game server you were connected to failed to maintain their network connection.
A general connectivity failure between your device and Roblox's game servers - similar in nature to Error 266, but during active gameplay rather than at launch.
How to fix it
- -Check your internet connection and try reconnecting.
- -Switch networks (e.g. mobile data vs. Wi-Fi) if the issue persists on one connection.
- -Try again after a few minutes - this can also happen during brief server-side instability.
Failed to connect to the Game (ID 17)
Your client couldn't establish a connection to the game server when trying to join.
Roblox's own explanation is broad - a network connection issue between your client and their servers at join time.
How to fix it
- -Check your internet connection and firewall settings.
- -Try joining a different server or waiting a few minutes before retrying.
- -Reinstall the Roblox client if this happens consistently across different games.
Roblox version may be out of date
Your installed Roblox client is outdated and needs to update before it can connect.
The server is expecting a newer client version than the one you have installed.
How to fix it
- -Let Roblox finish updating, or manually reinstall the latest version if it's stuck.
- -Restart the Roblox app after updating.
- -Check that your device's auto-update settings for Roblox aren't disabled.
Access denied on roblox.com
Access to a specific page on www.roblox.com was denied - you're not authorized to view it.
Roblox's own title for this one is self-explanatory: a permissions issue on the specific page you tried to load, not a general platform error.
How to fix it
- -Make sure you're signed into the correct account.
- -The page may require a permission level (e.g. age verification, group role) you don't currently have.
- -If you believe this is wrong, contact Roblox Support directly - this isn't a client-side issue you can fix locally.
Failed to Load Library
Roblox can't launch because it's unable to access a required Windows system file (a DLL), such as MFPlat.dll or urlmon.dll.
This is a local, client-side problem - the file is missing, corrupted, outdated, or being blocked, most commonly by antivirus software or a damaged Windows installation. It is not a Roblox server issue.
How to fix it
- -Check whether antivirus software has quarantined or is blocking a Roblox-related DLL, and restore/allow it if so.
- -Run Windows Update to repair missing or outdated system components.
- -Reinstall the Roblox app, which can restore files it depends on.
